Fall on the Farm

September 22, 2016

It's my favorite time of year! I adore fall. Everything about the abrupt weather change makes me swoon.

I love waking up to the crisp morning air, a thick blanket of fog still kissing the fields as the sun peaks up over the horizon. Bundled in my boots and sweater as I let the animals out for the day, everything is so calm and quiet on the homestead.

Those few minutes of pure bliss are what I crave. I can breathe, I can feel the earth awaken and hear God whispering "Good morning" to me.

I also love that once the sun comes up, the warmth it brings to everything it touches, seems to awaken the world. Fall is special in that way. Cool mornings and warm afternoons, maybe even a quick shower that comes out of nowhere that sends you bolting through the downpour for some shelter. It always makes me laugh. God has the best sense of humor!

Fall also brings big changes to the homestead. Most of the harvesting is complete and put up, so it is mostly upkeep of the fields and feeding. But it also brings time to butcher. It isn't my favorite part of this life we lead, but it is what feeds our family for the next year. We are also able to feed other families with what we produce here on our homestead. I love being able to raise our livestock ourselves. To love each and every one of them, care for them the best we can, talk with them and even take a nap in the pasture with them! Our little buckaroo loves napping with the pigs.

We work really hard to make sure we are able to provide the best possible food for ourselves and others. We only charge a small fee for our animals in hopes that more will be able to afford healthy, natural, whole foods for their families as well. Not everyone has the means to raise their own food, but if we all work together to solve some of the problems within our abilities, we can help out a lot of others. That is one of the great blessings God has for us and we are so thankful for it!

As of today, we are now taking pre-orders on both beef and pork! You can find more info on under and can place your order here.

Ground Breaking

This old house has stood here on our land since 1910. The history within these walls and around this property intrigue me. I wish I could press a button and get a little glimpse into the past that unfolded here.

There are few things in life that leave a huge impact on more than just ourselves. It's what grows into our legacy. Our personal story. What made us who we are.
