This is my favorite view on our farm. A field full of babies greeting you with happy hops and curious eyes. Their personalities are so cute to watch blossom. Some are shy and skittish, while others are brave and curious.

It has been in the low to mid 30s here recently, so we took the truck down to the fields to count our babies. We are in full swing calving season and there are new babies every day or so. We're up to nine babies so far for 2017!

Look how the mamas keep a close watch on their babies. Just like us, they never let their littles wander too far away. They will even babysit each others babies, because all mamas need a break every now and then.

When a baby wanders too far or someone comes too close, mama is never too far away and you better watch out, because she will be their faster than you can run. They are very protective of their babies. Our herd is full of some of the best mama cows around.

Look at these beauties! They are my favorites from last year and this year. No particular reason, but every calving season, I always seem drawn to one particular calf.

It does make it a little more difficult to process, but knowing they have great lives here on our farm and are loved, gives me joy.

Ground Breaking

This old house has stood here on our land since 1910. The history within these walls and around this property intrigue me. I wish I could press a button and get a little glimpse into the past that unfolded here.

Queen's Walnut

There are few things in life that leave a huge impact on more than just ourselves. It's what grows into our legacy. Our personal story. What made us who we are.

Winter Woes

We've spent the winter hunkered down and going through the daily routine of feedings and keeping pens warm and dry here on the homestead. It feels like this winter has been particularly cold. We've had more snow and ice this year than in recent memory. It sure makes for quite a bit of extra work.
